Do cats watch TV? Why you should keep your cat entertained!
Modern times require modern solutions. Since the invention of the TV, we humans have been glued to a screen as if our lives depend on it; however, a more recent phenomenon is the cat TV. Domestic felines have technically had access to the TV for as long as we have; however, you don't often see them stare into it for hours as we do. But why would they watch human TV? To them, it's all gibberish. They don't care about sex, drugs and rock n roll.
Do cats watch TV - and what would they watch if they made their own TV shows?
It is not hard to imagine what a TV network made up of cats would look like. There would be reality tv-shows about pest control, a lot of fishing, probably some pussy action, and definitely a bird show. However, no matter how many tv-channels your TV has, there is no way you have ever encountered a TV channel made for cats.
Do cats watch TV | Why I should make my cat watch TV
You can't always entertain your pet. Sometimes you are busy at home or have to go out for several hours. Not all cats deal well with solidarity for longer times because they are social beings who tend to create strong bonds with their owners. If they don't get the social contact they feel like they deserve, they might become upset, restless and eventually develop stress and anxiety. An anxious cat can easily develop destructive behaviour, which is not something you want to come home to.

In short, no. But there are many advantages to entertaining your cat by showing it some cat-tv action. But you will have to either find suitable content on YouTube or improvise something in your own home. And it is understandable if you can't start a TV network at home, so don't worry, cats are easy to entertain. You won't have to film anything.
What do cats like to watch on TV?
Cats are complex creatures, but they are easy to entertain. One of the best things you can do is to stimulate their natural instincts.
Bird feeders
For example, if you have living room windows with a view towards a garden or some trees, put up a bird feeder. Your cat will sit in front of it for long periods and just watch the birds. Any wildlife would do, but birds are probably the most practical one. If you live in an area with lots of squirrels, then your cat will love to watch them too!
This gets a little harder if you live on the 6th floor, but even there you can hang up a little birdfeeder.
Window
Give your cat access to a window regardless of the view. It will most likely find something interesting to watch, whether people, animals, cars or even bugs.
Aquarium
Cats love to watch fish. If you have an aquarium at home, then make it available for the cat to see. Just make sure the fish are out of reach for the cat and that the aquarium is in a place where it can't fall and break. It is understandable if you don't want to invest in an aquarium if you don't already have it at home.
Luckily, if you don't have the luxury of seeing live wildlife from your home, there are ways around this.
CAT TV YOUTUBE!
There are hours-long videos on YouTube that you can put on the big screen before going out, whether it is other cats, birds, fish, rodents, or some other nature show! Just make sure your TV or monitor is in a place where it is safe and cannot fall down. Your cat might feel the need to attack whatever it is watching, which could lead to a crushed TV and a crushed cat.
